Hi, I’m Ropani.

Becoming a Doula is a calling that has always been innate within.

I myself was born at home in the loving arms of my grandmother surround by family, loved ones and was welcomed into this world by my community. Nurturing and caring for children is a gift I adapted in my early childhood, having gained the knowledge and experience of how important and powerful emotional support and care during your pregnancy journey as well as after creates a better experience and outcome of bringing a child into this world.

When I was a teenager, I was abundantly blessed with twin girls, unfortunately due to circumstances my pregnancy and birth journey was not all I had hoped and at that time, I lacked proper support, knowledge, and care in having a healthy, successful pregnancy and birth. I was afraid and wasn’t expecting the journey that was ahead. The pain I felt was most especially due to trusting my freedom, voice and health to the hands of those who didn’t properly care to make sure my health as well as my daughters’ health was well.

As a young African American woman that lacked knowledge, resources and support; I quickly surrendered my power, choices and voice.

Ten years after going through my pregnancy, I embarked on a new journey taking my skills and experiences in gifting young women to become much more prepared and educated in the gaps we lack. Becoming a certified Birth Doula through Dona International has given me the opportunity and has opened doors for me to fulfill my journey and advocate for colored and low income parents and dedicating my work towards better care, emotionally, physically and giving women of color their power back in their pregnancy and labor experiences. It is my passion, my reason and my purpose which I am grateful to experience with you all.

My Goal is to bring back the celebration of life in the colored and low income families.

Pregnancy and labor is a gift that expecting parents shouldn’t feel alone, scared and unaware but feel empowered, confident, educated and in charge. My role is to make sure you are both supported, cared for, advocated for and most importantly guiding you while you take charge.
